#1 The setting in the book Lunch Money is when the boy is at home and he loves making money so he always is working hard and then school comes and he starts handing out gum and little toys for encredibly cheap prices. So what I am mainley trying to say is the two settings main settings are school and home. When he is at school it kind of reminds me of silver lake in a way because from what I hear from what the schools surrondings are it sounds alot like silver lake. And the book also said that he held a lemonade stand and inthe summer me and my neighbors had a lemonade stand. The book sounds really good so far ... it is awsome.
#2 There are two settings in the book and they are at home and at school. The main charecter is a boy named greg. Greg loves to make money, so what he does is he works realy hard at home and does his two older brothers chores like making their beds and cleaning their room for them. He also did the laundry and other helpful stuff to. Then when he went to school he relized that he could make a fourtune from lunch money. I also read in the book that Greg has his very own lemonade stand and that he writes and illustraits his own commics that he sells at very cheap prices. I realy like the book so far and it makes me want to read and hear more.
Extra Comments: Do you like the book so far Octavia? Yes I do like the book so far payton, it is a very good and intresting book to read. What was your favorite part so far Payton? Mine was when he sold all those little toys that he bout from that Nic-Nac store. Same here.
Mrs. Rowe's Response: I love lemonade stands too! My brother, danny, and I used to always have one when we were younger. With the money we earned, we'd go to this little store down the street and buy yummy candy! Great response Payton, keep up the good work!
Reading Response Day 3
#1 My favorite character is Greg because I love how he never trys to give up and he sells things like little toys and chunky comics and with greg you never know wat is going to happen next with him. Greg reminds me of my friend Lauren becase she always has a stash of cash like Greg and me I oh never mind. My least favorite character I would say has to be Mara,I think this because Mara is a copy cat and she is also kind of what I would call a bully. Mara reminds me of when my sister is mad at me so she mimics me and I get so worked up like Greg and it really does get aynoing. I really like the book so far and when I got to the stopping point I was like what it left me hanging on a thread, So it makes me really excited to read on.
#2 My favorite charecter is Greg because he is a confident boy who never ever quits or gives up after something goes wrong. I think that my least favorite charecter would be Maura because she is always copying everything Greg does or makes and just like Greg, I think it is very, very anoying. I also think that maura is a little bit of a bully. When Mayra and Greg fight it reminds me of what happens when me and my brothers fight. I am realy liking the book so far and it is realy making ma want to read on.
Extra Comments: At the part were Mara hurt his nose and it started bleeding was she being sympathetic because a teacher was around or was she really sorry for what she did? I think that she is realy sorry for what she did. Do you have any other qustions. No I do not Payton.
Reading Response Day 5
#1 The main event n the story I would say is about how Greg the main character int he book and Maura the second main character and how they both want and need money and they fight about it all of the time. Greg is always the one who comes up with the genius ideas to get money like the main thing that is being sold inthe story is mini comic books. So Greg is selling all of these awesome comics when all of the sudden he finds another mini comic by Maura who always steals his ideas of how to make money so she can get lots of money to. When Greg saw this he got all fired up but then later that day his teacher asked him to come to his classroom after school. After school in Mr.Zs classroom Maura and Greg worked it out and thats about how far I read. This book reminds me of how in stores kids are always like aw that is so cool I really want that and then there mom says save up for it. This book teaches you that you should only get want you need and not stuff that you just ask for just because all of your friends have it or it just looks cool. Thats all I have to say today.
#2 In my book there are 2 main characters, the first character is a boy named Greg, the second character is a girl named Maura. This story is about a how Greg tries to make money and so does Maura. So Maura and Greg have a little "friendly" competition to see who can get more money than each other. Greg's way to make money is to make these tiny comics called chunky comics. Maura has allot of great ideas to,and many of them got her lots of money. but when Greg sees this little booklet that Maura made called the lost unicorn he gets furious and he and Maura get into such a big fight that they are called to their math teachers room after school. Then Mr.Z (their math teacher) tells them to talk their problem out with each other and they do. That is all I have to say about my book. I hope that you are interested in this book and want to read it now.
Extra Comments: what is you'r favorite saying in the book so far mine is probably this (Mrs.Jason thought otherwise"These are beutiful, Maura- so colorful and you say you made them by yourself" "Uh-huh" "Well I want two of these for myself... and these blue and pink ones will go perfectley in my sisters kitchen. How much are you charging?"). Mine would also be that exact saying because it is very interesting and if you did not know what this book was about and you only read that part it would realy make you want to read on. Don't you think so Payton? Well I kind of agree with that because it dosen't exacley make me want to read so kind of.
Mrs. Rowe: Great question Payton! Your summary showed a lot of effort and detail, way to go!
Reading Response Day 7
#1 I have a text to self and a text to book. The text to self is when I was in the car with all of my art supplies and I started to make a comic to read to my sisters. This reminded me of my book because he book is all about comics, and Maura's comic reminded me of mine cause I was six when I made it and it was about a unicorn. This book also reminds me of another book the book was Ramona and Beezus. The book Lunch money reminded me of this book because there are two characters each book who are fighting. In lunch money the characters are Greg and Maura who you can find fighting constantly. And the two characters from the book Ramona and Beezus are Ramona and Beezus who are sisters and are always fighting but sill love each other. this is a really good book so far and I can't wait to finish it!
#2 I have a text to self connection. The text to self connection is when I was 9 years old and made a "not-realy-a-comic book" book to read to my little brother. Maura's sketches at the beginning of the book were sort of like the little drawings I did in my comic thing.
Extra Comments: There is this part I don't get are Maura and Greg becoming friends? Also don't you really want to finish the book to see what is going to happen!! Yes I do Payton. The book is just so interesting! What is your favorite part so far Payton? And what is your least? And I think Greg and Maura are becoming friends.
Reading Response Day 9
#1 I would say the climax of the story is probably when Greg and Maura start to work together and get along. I would say thid because In the begaining af the story they hated eachother they were like worst enemies and now hey ar like best friends. When Greg and Maura started making a comic book buisness I was amazed because later on in the book Mr.Z (there math teacher) said to Greg that Maura might like him. This book has tured out to be super suprising, from how Greg and Maura used to fight and now they don't this book is really interesting and I can't wait to finish the book. This book is so good that if I go to the library looking for a good book I might pick out a Andrew Clements book because this book is so good so mabey one of his other books have to be good.
#2 The turning point in the story is when Greg and Maura (two people who were worst enemies) became best friends. I think that that is the turning point in the story because I thought that they would never ever get along with each other because they were always fighting with each other and hitting one another. One part that surprised me the most was when Maura and Greg actually started a comic book business together. I just can't wait to finish this very interesting book.
Extra Comments: Hey Payton, didn't it surprise you when Greg and Maura became friends and started that comic book club together? Do you want to read on and finish the book Payton? I know I do! Same here! If you could recomend this book to any one who would it be i think it would be my friend Kali because I know Kali and i think she would love this book.
